Gradus ad Parnassum 2016 GENERAL RULES

THE VI INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION "GRADUS AD PARNASSUM" 2016

General Rules

  1. The VI International Competition  “Gradus ad Parnassum” will be held in Kaunas on the 9,10,11,12 of  June, 2016.
  2. The Competition is opened for young pianists, accordionists and participants of wind, string and national instruments of all nationalities who were born on or after 9  of June, 1997.
  3. The winner’s concert will be held at Kaunas Philharmonic Hall on the 12 of June, 2016
  4. The registration fee is 60 Euros. It is not returned.
  5. Travelling and accommodation costs are at the expense of the competitors and their accompanists.
  6. The performances of competitors are judged by an International Jury appointed by the organizer. The names of the Jury members will be announced prior to the beginning of the Competition. The Jury decisions are irrevocable and definite.
  7. The Competition reserves the right to all recordings of all live performances and concerts of the Competition without any compensation to the competitors. This applies to any format including but not limited to electronic audio, video and digital media, radio and TV broadcasts.

8.    Competition procedure

9.     It is a one-round Competition.

10.  The number of participants is limited.

11.   Competitors will be divided into the following categories:

12.  The guenue is made according in the age of participants .

13.   Repertoire. Two works are obligatory for all participants in all categories:

13.1. Baroque or Classical work.  Polyphony or large form (whole work or one part) is obligator

13.2. Romantic or 20th -21st century work.

13.3. Note: Free choice program is performed at the rest of the given time. It should be given attention to different characters     of works. There is no need to repeat the parts of compositions.

14. All repertories must be performed by memory.

15. Pianists and Accordionists must perform works only for solo piano.

16. The Jury reserves the right to interrupt performance exceeding the time limit.

17.  Awards and prizes

17.1. GRAND PRIX – (all specialties) and their teachers will be awarded with laureate’s diplomas, rewards and prizes.

17.2. The laureates of the 1st places will be awarded with diplomas,  rewards and prizes.

17.3. The laureates of the 2nd, 3rd places will be awarded with diplomas and prizes.

17.4. Diplomas holders of the Competition will be awarded with diplomas and prizes.

17.5. All participants will be given certificates and souvenirs, their teachers and accompanists will receive certificates.

18. Application procedure

Entries must be made on the attached Application Form by e-mail: garmuzm@delfi.lt or to fill application form   on the        website www.meno.garliava.lm.lt before March 01, 2016.

The following documents should be included with the Application Form:

a) a copy of the birth certificate (it is necessary to have the original on the Competition time);

b) a recent  photo of the participant;

c) an official confirmation of payment of the fee, otherwise a participant is not registered.
